DAEYANG GALLERY & HOUSE

STEVEN HOLL ARCHITECTS

Seoul, Korea  2012

Taking inspiration from an Istvan Anhalt musical composition, Steven Holl Architects designed this house and gallery situated in the hills of the Kangbuk section of Seoul, Korea.  Spirit of Space creatively collaborated with Steven Holl Architects to cinematically communicate the experiential essence of the Daeyang Gallery & House.  This was accomplished through a two-part series.

In the first film, Spirit of Space has captured the serenity of the space, enabling an individual to experience the passage of time.  The film invites the viewer to enter a state of quiet contemplation and comprehend what it means for architecture to change.

The second is a short architectural film that could be used as an educational tool, and the Daeyang Gallery & House Conversation intends to teach students about the experiential qualities of the space. The Conversation grants access into the mind of the architect, enabling the viewer to listen to Steven Holl as he discusses the phenomenology of his design while walking through the actual space.
